LOUISA, Ky. — A Special Meeting at the Lawrence County Public Library on Thursday October 17, 2024. Attending the meeting were Deena Meade, Caleb Farley, Lynn Perry and Lindsay Smith at 3:00 PM at the Lawrence County Public Library.
The Special Meeting was a discussion forum on how to proceed looking for a New Library Director. Carlie Pelfrey has resigned her $80,000 per year position as Library Director. She gave a 2 weeks notice and her final day was October 3, 2024. Pelfrey will begin her Insurance Career at State Farm Insurance alongside her Dad Donald Hillman due to Laura Parker retiring.
Chosen by the group as interim director was Deena Meade, a longtime library employee.
“I am excited for the opportunity to be interim director and plan on applying for the position of director, Deena Meade told The Lazer. “The staff have been working hard to ensure a smooth transition so that no services are interpreted during the process of hiring a new director.”
The board did not discuss Mrs. Meade’s salary at the forum.
The Special Forum resulted in a final draft for Director, however. This draft will be viewed by the Board of Directors at the November Regular Meeting.
