COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Huge hit at the end to give us a two run lead by just putting the ball in play. Williams is really good for them and he beat us in the same round last year. He is a stud, a gamer, a senior who is left handed and throw in it was a miserable night to hit, and I’m not surprised it was a 2-0 game. We were fortunate to come away with the win and I told our guys we made a couple more winning plays than they did. Bottom line we got guys in scoring position and they didn’t.”
“… This was a defensive game and we will have nights where we don’t see it that well and that could be in a region semifinal and you have to be able to win a 2-0 ballgame. It was good to see Boedy ( Maynard ) come out and back to back really good outings on the mound. I don’t think he walked anyone, pounded the zone and I thought our defense was stellar.”
“… I can only think of one the ball count and John ( Hill ) is big on that with our pitchers and he goes over the numbers every week and that is huge. He tossed a 79 pitch complete game, zero walks, seven K’s there you go. You’re not going to lose many like that. And hopefully he can keep building on that and it starts bleeding over into our other guys.”
