MASTER GARDENERS BUSY IN THE CITY THIS WEEKEND
While many people stayed out of the rain on Saturday morning, some of the local Master Gardeners were busy working around town.
As the rain fell lightly, the Master Gardeners weeded and mulched the Louisa Community Garden located on Lackey Avenue (across from Maes Thrift Store). The Community Garden provides garden beds free of charge for community members who want to grow their own vegetables!
Once the crew finished working at the Community Garden, they continued their volunteer work at Louisa West where they cleaned out and weeded the sidewalk flower beds that lead to the school. The new layer of mulch and gravel helped to highlight all the painted rocks that the students had put in the flower beds last year!
The Lawrence County Master Gardeners are associated with the UK Extension Office. If you are interested in learning more about the Master Gardeners, please contact the Extension Office at 606-673-9495.
