MARTIN COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
SYRINGE EXCHANGE PROGRAM
Inez, Kentucky
The syringe/needle exchange program is anonymous and confidential. Clients/participants will not need any identification to participate. It is a completely free program where the client is given clean needles and asked to bring back their used needles for disposal. At this time, we will be open from 1pm to 3:30pm Monday thru Thursday. In the future, we may extend hours to later in the day.
We will offer: Clean needles, safe disposal of used needles, free HIV and Hepatitis C testing for participants, free Narcan to participants, condoms and wound care kits, education on HIV and Hepatitis C, drug treatment information and referrals. If you have any questions please call (606) 298-7752, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Question, how can you have a needle exchange program for something that is illegal? Illegal Drugs in the United States the last time I checked are against the law. Just asking a legitimate question. I would rather have a neutral answer to this rather than someone who supports it or s against it. Thanks.
Read about “Harm Reduction.” Also, addiction is a health problem, not a legal one. The idea that people who abuse substances are criminals is becoming quickly outdated as new research indicates substance abuse should be treated medically rather than criminally
Okay, what about people that are for it.
