Project promotes wellness, “kids are enjoying it every day”…
Louisa, KY — Students at Louisa West Elementary School got a big thrill when they received a brand new playground recently. The Lawrence County Board of Education installed $50,000.00 worth of new playground equipment which was set in a recreation area framed by landscape timbers in the paved area next to the school.
“The kids are greatly enjoying the new playground equipment, they enjoy it everyday” said LWE Principal, Debbie Delong. She said that wellness is a part of the school’s curriculum, and the playground equipment plays a big part of that program.
Four students, Zachary Thompson, Shelby Compton, Isaah Hughes and Zoe Vinson, represented the school at the March Board of Education meeting, and presented “Thank You” cards to the board members. Students created the cards in their art class.
Principal Delong said “We are extremely thankful to the Lawrence County Board of Education for the new playground equipment! It is beautiful and perfect for the very young children we have at our school.”
