Louisa Rotary Still Meeting via Zoom
The Louisa Rotary Club is still meeting via Zoom due to Covid -19.
Thursday’s guest speaker was Austin Hughes, owner of Dapper Doodle and K9 Cafe.
Austin is a 2014 graduate of LCHS and lives in Louisa. He received an Associates from ACTC in 2016 and has his real estate license. He said he met his wife while working at Tri County Animal Clinic and they both had a passion for animals. That passion led them to start a grooming business from their home and led them to lease a building downtown in January.
Due to Covid they weren’t able to open the location up until mid-May and were covered up. In addition to the grooming they now offer Doggie Daycare from 9-5 and have had to hire a full time and part time groomer.
They also offer specialty types of dog food for dogs who have allergies or with limited ingredients. As they have run out of space, Hughes has now leased two units in the old Louisa Plaza building. One will be the new Dapper Doodle location which will have more room and the other building they have now opened a cafe.
The K9 cafe offers a variety of different items such as teas, coffees, sandwiches and soups. Right now, the cafe is opened 9-5 but next week will be opening from 7:30-7 except for Sunday.
As Austin is still renovating, the cafe will evidentially have a lounge room, gaming systems, tv’s.
Hughes said their passion for animals and just weird and different things have led them to providing unique grooming options and flavor options for the cafe. You can find both businesses on Facebook as well as a menu for the K9 cafe.
