October 6, 2016
The Louisa Rotary organization met on Thursday October 6th. After eating lunch catered by the Rebel Barn, Chris Jobe began the meeting in absence of the President Lindsey Case. A special prayer was said for the people that are in Hurricane Matthew’s path. Also it was announced that Josh McQuire and his wife recently celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary.
Other announcements were for upcoming events:
Rotary will not meet at its normal place for the next two weeks. Next week’s meeting is at LCHS, where the culinary arts class will be providing lunch for Rotarians. The week after that will be a picnic in the park. The Nightmare In The Square will be on Oct. 29th and Sullivan College will be holding a Small Business Expo on Oct. 20th at 5:30 P.M.
The speaker for this week was Bro. Dan Smith, the pastor of Louisa Methodist Church. He gave an interesting speech about the many hats he had worn during his lifetime, that ultimately showed how his faith had grown toward God with every hat that he had put on during his lifetime.
He said he struggled to find his way, but in the end it all made sense when he asked himself, “what hat did Jesus wear?” as he drug out a crown of thorns. That was the one and only hat he said he could recall Jesus wearing and how Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice. The speech was well thought out, as you could look around the room and see that everyone was thinking about what he had said. We find our place, and our calling through public service, selflessness and faith, Smith concluded.
With that, the meeting was adjourned for the week.
