Louisa Rotary met Thursday, May 4th at 12 noon. The first meeting in May was a busy meeting beginning with the acknowledgment of member Elaine DeSario’s recent Birthday.
There were several announcements, some involving donations that the Rotary Club had agreed on in last week’s board meeting.
One donation was to help Lawrence Vinson with a Guatemalan Mission trip in which the money would go for supplies for their medical clinic, formula for babies in a medical center, vacation bible school supplies and much more. The club agreed to donate $2,000 to that cause. Another announcement was that the Annual Golf Scramble was successful, raising money for helping our community.
This week’s guest speaker was Dr. Thomas Frazier, MD, the popular gastroenterologist located at Louisa’s Three Rivers Medical Center.
Frazier introduced a new weight loss procedure called AspireAssist. The AspireAssist was developed by world renowned physicians to help people lose weight safely and sensibly. It’s a simple discrete approach that puts you in control of your own weight loss, Frazier said.
Dr. Frazier is the only doctor in the entire state of Kentucky that performs this procedure, putting TRMC on the map. He is actually one of the very few on the entire Eastern Coast to perform this.
Dr. Frazier, born and raised here in Lawrence County explains, “There are very few side effects, it’s minimally evasive and most definitely the future of the treatment of obesity.”
Dr. Frazier also announced that TRMC has formed a relationship with Univ. of Louisville and is “giving FREE HEPATITIS C screenings to baby boomers, (ages 45 to 65). Along with Louisville, TRMC is one of two places offering that service, he said.
With that, and a few questions, the meeting was adjourned for the week.
