LOUISA POOL PRICES SAMES AS LAST YEAR; 3.5% PAY RAISE BUDGETED FOR CITY EMPLOYEES

…MAY MEETING HELD AS SPECIAL MEETING JUNE 5, 2024…

Special meeting was called to order at 6pm with Mayor Harold Slone presiding and all council members present.

Motion by Keith Chaffin and second by Caleb Farley to approve minutes from April 2024, motion passed unanimously.

Council agreed to keep all pool prices the same as last year and approve for employees’ children to receive a pass.

Approved an MOU with School Board for future SRO , pending board approval. Motion by Joey McClanahan and second by Coty Roe all in favor.

Mayor Slone led a discussion about the proposed budget. He advised the council revenues were down a little due to federal stimulus dollars over the past few years not being there this year. The city’s projected budget revenues is $2,091,085.00 with a $250,000 expected surplus from last year bringing the total expected revenues to $2,341,085.00 and expensed expected at $2,318,599.00. The discussion led to the council passing the 1st reading of the city budget on Ordinance 2024-01 on a motion by Mr Mclanahan and second by Mr Robertson. All in favor.

The discussion then moved to the budget for the Louisa Public Utilities for the coming year on  a motion by Mr Roe and second by Mr Chaffin the budget of $3,643,661.00 revenue , $2,410,017.25 expenses , $891,689.00 in debt service was passed on Ordinance 2024-03. All in favor.

Ordinance 2024-04 Compensation of City Utilities employees was passed unanimously as well as Ordinance 2024-02 Compensation of city employees. The budget and pay ordinances reflected a 3.5% raise for regular employees which is equal to the CPI put out by the state in January.

The Mayor asked for the council to accept a bid from Bear Tract construction for $189,188.00 which was the only bid received for the extension of water project on Delong Branch. The council approved the bid.

The council went into executive session according to KRS 61,180 (b) possible acquisition of property and reported no final action taken and KRS 61,180 (c) possible or pending litigation. Council was update and give instructions to city attorney to respond.
