Louisa, Ky. — The Louisa Middle School Volleyball team had a great first week to kickoff it’s season with an exciting and competitive first week of games.

The Bulldogs began their season at the Spike-O-Rama tournament held at East Carter, where the C, B, and A teams completed a clean sweep, defeating Fairview, Menifee County, and East Carter.
Bulldog Volleyball is coached by Amie Chicko, Kelli Dixon, and Dale Rose.
The program includes 29 players split across three teams. The C Team is made up primarily of sixth graders, the B Team consists mostly of seventh graders with several sixth graders playing up, and the A Team features eighth graders along with a few seventh graders stepping up to compete at the higher level.
Head coach Amie Chicko also launched her own travel volleyball team, LC Rise, this year, where many of the Louisa players compete as well. Chicko has coached several of these athletes for years, helping develop their skills and teamwork both on and off the court.
Louisa continued its strong start on March 10 with its first away game at Greenup, where all three teams again earned a clean sweep. The C Team won 21–9 and 21–7, the B Team dominated with scores of 21–3 and 21–8, and the A Team secured wins of 21–10 and 21–11.
The Bulldogs faced a tougher challenge on March 12 when they traveled to Ashland. Despite fighting hard throughout the matches, Louisa fell short in each contest. The C Team lost 21–10 and 21–7, the B Team fell 21–17 and 21–10, and the A Team came up short 21–9 and 21–11.
Louisa Middle School will play its first home game on March 19, and the community is encouraged to come out and support these hardworking athletes as they continue their season.
With a young roster and a strong foundation of teamwork, the Bulldogs look forward to continuing to grow and compete as the season progresses.
