Louisa Head Start to host Open House, Friday, May 27th
Fresh off an amazing 2021-22 school year, Louisa Head Start is diving into preparations for next year with an Open House application event this Friday, May 27th, from 8:30am-12noon.
The Open House event is a low-key chance for families to tour Head Start classrooms, meet teachers, and talk with parents of current Head Start students. Families will also have the opportunity to complete applications for their children. All are invited to attend, and children are welcome.
Head Start is a federally-funded preschool program serving 3 and 4 year old children and their families in communities across the United States. Head Start aims to cultivate social-emotional skills, spark curiosity, and prepare children for success in Kindergarten and beyond. Meals and classroom supplies are provided free of charge for all children, and children do not need to be potty-trained in order to attend.
Children of families participating in the TANF/KTAP program are automatically eligible, as are foster children and children from households in which someone is receiving SSI disability. And, NEW THIS YEAR, children of families receiving SNAP benefits are automatically eligible, without any additional income verification. Children become eligible for admission as soon as they turn 3, even if they do so after the beginning of the school year.
