Louisa Chapter DAR Honors Veterans and Commemorates Centennial of WW1
The Louisa Chapter DAR held their regular monthly meeting on November 28, 2017 at 6 pm in the café of the Louisa FBC. The meeting was called to order by Regent Sabrina May. Opening Rituals were read and minutes from the previous meeting were approved.
Louisa Chapter DAR honored local veterans during their November meeting with a fried chicken dinner complete with dessert.
Lawrence County’s oldest living veteran, WWII Veteran, Milton Cordle Jr. was also honored during the meeting although he was unable to attend.
Guest Speaker retired Army veteran Douglas Salyer, a 1988 graduate of Lawrence Co. High School gave a heartfelt speech in front of a large crowd regarding the WWI veterans of Lawrence County and those that did not return.
Hostesses for November were Theresa Chaffin, Lynn Courtney, and Evelyn Deboard. The café looked great adorned with fall décor. Members assisted the hostesses in providing the meal and desserts for the evening.
In addition to the evening’s festivities, Louisa Chapter DAR welcomed its newest member, Evelyn Nadine Meeks.

The next regular meeting of the Louisa Chapter DAR will be Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 @ 6:00pm in the cafe of Louisa First Baptist Church.
No meetings are scheduled in January 2018.
