LOUISA, KY – The City of Louisa met in regular session on September 12, 2023. The mayor and all council members were present except for Gary Robertson. In old business council unanimously approved the minutes from the last meeting in August.
In new business, council set the motor vehicle and watercraft tax rate at twenty (20) cents per one hundred dollars of the assessed value. This was same rate as last year.
After some discussion Rose Lester made the motion to set the property tax rate at .238 which is also the compensating rate calculated for the year. This rate is down from .240 last year.
The council then heard the first reading of Ordinance 2023-07 “An ordinance relating to the Valuation and Taxation of property in the City of Louisa” The vote was unanimous and the second reading is slated for October meeting.
The council voted unanimously to set trick or treat this year for October 28, 5:30-8pm.
Eddie Preston demonstrated a new set of quick response ‘Jaws of Life’ that was obtained by a grant through the Ky Fire Commission.
A short executive session followed to discuss a potential property acquisition but no final action was taken.
