UPDATE: Obituary includedFebruary 9, 1982 — January 31, 2025

Ryan had been suffering from a crippling disease in the past several months and succumbed to the illness, a family member said.

His obituary is below;

February 9, 1982 — January 31, 2025

Ryan Lee Sammons, 42, of Louisa, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2025 at Three Rivers Medical Center.

Ryan was born February 9, 1982 in Huntington, West Virginia the son of Rick and Dianna Ryland Sammons. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Syd and Toots Ryland, Sam and Goldie Sammons, and Wanda “Mimi” Miller Hayes.

Ryan was good at everything, a true Renaissance man.  He was a mechanic, as shown by his restored 1968 Mustang. He was a carpenter. He had grown up building houses with his dad and knew the process from foundation to finishing.  Ryan was musical.  A self-taught guitar player, he played in the praise band at First Baptist of Louisa where he also regularly attended his men’s Sunday school class.  He loved to play golf, especially with his daughter Lauren, and had coached the LCHS golf team for several years. He was a Marshall fan who loved attending games with his daughter Jenna Sue.  Ryan had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. He was so much fun to be around. He was a great friend. He was always ready to use his expertise and his many talents to help anyone who needed him. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother and friend. Most importantly, Ryan was Christian who lived his faith.

Survivors include his loving wife Kristy Sammons; two daughters Jenna Sue and Lauren Kate Sammons; parents Rick and Dianna Sammons; a sister Carrie (Justin) Salyers; mother and father-in-law Gary and Nikki Nelson; four nieces Hallee Preece, Addalyn Woods, Abby Nelson and Skyla Salyers; four nephews Syd Woods, Brady Nelson, Stryker Powell, and Sylas Salyers; and a brother-in-law BJ (Valerie) Nelson

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 5th at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Louisa with Pastor Chuck Price and Deacon Joey Cecil officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery (East) in Louisa, Kentucky.

Friends may visit the family from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the First Baptist Church on Tuesday February the 4th.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to First State Bank for the scholarship fund of Jenna Sue and Lauren Kate Sammons.

Care for Ryan and his family has been entrusted to our family at Wilson Funeral Home.
