MOREHEAD, Ky. — Morehead State University Opera will present “The Hills Are Alive,” an evening of scenes from music, theater, operetta, and opera on Sunday, April 23, at 8 p.m. in Duncan Recital Hall of the Baird Music Hall.
The event is free and open to the public.
Two Lawrence Co. students will be included in the operatic cast, Matt Hammond and Kaitlyn Osborn.
The theme for the evening is Austria, music from and about Austria. It will include scenes from “The Sound of Music,” “The Marriage of Figar,” “Don Giovanni,” “Die Tote Stadt,” “Die Fledermaus,” and “The Merry Widow.”
Dr. Roma Prindle, associate professor of music, is the director of MSU Opera. William Murphy, visiting lecturer in music, is the collaborative pianist for the production. Ryan Wardell, graduate student in vocal performance, is the assistant director. Consultant for opera production is Eric Brown, visiting lecturer in voice.
