Lawrence County Farm Bureau generously sponsored both Mikka and Owen
Two outstanding Lawrence County High School seniors, Owen Pack and Mikka Horn, recently attended the Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders (IFAL) hosted at Murray State University. This prestigious program, sponsored by Kentucky Farm Bureau, gives rising young agricultural leaders a unique opportunity to explore college life and careers in agriculture.
Mikka Horn, who plans to become an agriculture teacher like her FFA advisor Melissa Blackburn, was eager to deepen her knowledge and passion for agricultural education. “Being able to see firsthand the opportunities available in agriculture and education was inspiring,” Mikka shared. “It made me even more excited to pursue a degree in agricultural education.”
Owen Pack will be interning with the Lawrence County Extension Office this summer, gaining valuable hands-on experience in community agriculture programs. Attending IFAL helped him build connections and learn more about the diverse careers within agriculture. “It was a great way to meet other students who share my interests and to see the real impact agriculture has in our communities,” Owen said.
Lawrence County Farm Bureau generously sponsored both Mikka and Owen, demonstrating their continued commitment to supporting the next generation of agricultural leaders.
Programs like IFAL play a vital role in preparing students to return home and strengthen agriculture in their own communities. Lawrence County is proud of these two young leaders and looks forward to seeing all they will accomplish in the future.
