Lawrence County Schools Celebrates KSA Success, Looks Ahead

Lawrence County Schools recently received the official results from the 2024-2025 Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA). These scores, from assessments taken by students in grades 3-12, give us a snapshot of student learning and help us plan for improvement.

Understanding the School Colors

Kentucky’s current assessment system gives each school an overall color rating, ranging from Red (lowest) to Blue (highest). This color shows the school’s total performance across all tests and grades.

Lawrence County School Results

We are extremely pleased to report that no Lawrence County school was rated red, and we received no designations for needed state interventions or assistance.

  • Fallsburg Middle School (grades 6-8) achieved an overall blue rating! This is a tremendous achievement, placing them with the 6th highest overall score of all middle schools in the state!
  • Blaine Middle (grades 6-8), Louisa Middle (grades 6-8), Louisa East Elementary (grades 3-5), and Fallsburg Elementary (grades 3-5) all achieved an overall yellow rating.
  • Blaine Elementary (grades 3-5) and LCHS received an orange overall rating.

Additional Results:

  • Every single Lawrence County school scored blue or green in the area of school climate and student safety.
  • LCHS scored green on its graduation rate.

Our key focus areas for the 2025-2026 school year will be improving writing skills across all subjects and providing increased in-district support for any LC schools currently rated orange. We are dedicated to ensuring every student gets the assistance they need to succeed.

“We are celebrating our success areas, especially the outstanding blue rating at Fallsburg Middle, but our goal for the next KSA is a yellow (Medium Performance) rating or higher across the board at all schools!” said Katie Webb, Superintendent of Lawrence County Schools. “While the KSA is a valuable tool, parents should also look at their child’s classwork, district assessments, and teacher feedback to get a complete picture of their child’s learning and growth. We are using this data to drive specific improvements in writing in all of our subject areas and support our orange-rated schools, working together to achieve green and blue throughout the district.”

We encourage all families to ask their school principal or child’s teacher for more information about these results and how we are working together for a great year of learning.
