FRANKFORT, KY. – The Department for Local Government (DLG) approved the award of $10,000 in Local Economic Development Fund (LGEDF)/Single County Coal Severance funds to Lawrence County Fiscal Court for the City of Louisa, Downtown Beautification project.
Grant funds will be used to replace damaged sidewalks, purchase landscape supplies and cast iron bollards.
“I am pleased that these coal severance funds have been awarded to Lawrence County for improvements to Louisa’s downtown area. This small allocation of resources is smart stewardship that will yield several benefits to the city and local community.” said DLG Commissioner Sandra Dunahoo.
“In the past, these coal severance funds have benefited the county in various ways. I am glad that these dollars have been made available to assist the county in serving the City of Louisa,” said Sen. Ray Jones.
“I am thankful to DLG and Lawrence County officials for this small investment of coal severance dollars to help beautify the downtown region of the City of Louisa. Even the smallest resources can go a long way to building a healthy community,” said Rep. Jill York.
