On June 6, 2022, nine members travelled to Lexington KY to embrace the journey. As 2435 blue corduroy jackets and guests filled Rupp arena on Tuesday, Lawrence County Members were ready to compete.
Allyson Moore would compete in Poultry Impromptu and Abby Moore in Goat/Sheep Impromptu. Impromptu speaking contests are where students draw the topic they are going to speak on and have 20 minutes to prepare their speech relying mostly on previous knowledge although for speech preparation they are allowed to have the textbooks with them.
In addition to the speaking contest the Parliamentary Procedure Team would take their written test. Parliamentary Procedure members are Sr members Amity Vance and Whitney Moore, Junior Members Alexanderia Boggs and Emma Salyer, Sophomore member Corbin Jordan, and Freshman member Wyatt Branham.
The team demonstrated a meeting on Wednesday, as well as Emma Salyer and Wyatt Branham served as delegates for the chapter. State Convention concluded on Thursday.
The next event for the chapter will be FFA Leadership Training Camp.
We do want to thank the Lawrence County Board of Education for the support of our program. In addition, we want to wish our senior members: Whitney Moore the best as she continues her education at University of Pikeville and much success on her collegiate volleyball career and Amity Vance the best of luck as she pursues a degree in Agriculture Education/Animal Science at Morehead State University.
