4.A. Superintendent’s Update

4.A.1. Academic Calendar & Attendance: Students returned on January 5 completing 10 days in 2026. The 2nd nine weeks ended last week. After five NTI days and three snow days in December, we are currently planning the three required makeup days. Notably, district attendance is up 0.6% over last year.

4.A.2. Professional Development: Teachers returned January 2 for building prep and specialized training on our new Illustrative Math resource. We also met with first-year principals and bookkeepers over the break to ensure a strong start to the second semester.

4.A.3.Facility & Maintenance: A major waterline rupture occurred at LMS on New Year’s Eve. I want to commend our maintenance crew for working through the holiday to ensure the building was fully operational for the students’ return.

4.A.4. Athletic Excellence: Congratulations to the Louisa East 3rd Grade Boys Basketball team for winning the State Elementary Tournament, and congratulations to the LCHS Cheerleaders for placing 4th in the KHSAA State competition.

4.A.5. Leadership & Strategic Planning: I am currently conducting mid-year principal evaluations, and the Calendar Committee has begun drafting options for the 26-27 school year. Our Elevate LC community council meets this Friday, January 23.

4.A.6. Legislative Advocacy: As the General Assembly begins its budget session, I am honored to serve on the KASA Advocacy Bill Team for curriculum and instruction, representing our district’s interests in Frankfort.

4.A.7. Rotary Visit & CTE Tour: On January 29, the Rotary Club will meet at LCHS and tour our CTE department. I invite all Board members to attend.
