Pursuant to KRS 160.270(1), KRS 61.823, and KRS 61.826, the Chairperson of the Board of Education of Lawrence County, gives notice of a REGULAR meeting to be held on FEBRUARY 17, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will be conducted in whole or in part by video teleconference. 4.A.1. Weather has impacted the current school year: 11 traditional snow days and 10 NTI days.
4.A.2. KDE’s Star Academy Grant for an LCHS Freshman Academy has been awarded to Lawrence County, one of five districts in Kentucky receiving the no-match, STEM-driven grant.
4.A.3. The district is hosting a Higher Education Expo at LCHS on March 12 for all 9-12 LCHS students and for parents of seniors only, with over 30 post-secondary partners participating.
4.A.4. Frankfort Legislative Update-Mrs. Webb testifies on funding needs before the Legislature’s Appropriations and Revenue Committee Subcommittee on Education, representing 17 districts.
4.A.5. Lawrence County adds representation on KDE committees: Chief Academic Officer Myram Brady has been appointed to the District Assessment Coordinator Advisory Committee with the Office of Assessment and Accountability. District Health Coordinator Natalie Wellman has been selected to serve on the School Health Services Focus Community Champions Committee.
4.A.6. February brings special celebrations of staff and programs in Lawrence County: Kentucky FRYSC Week 35th Anniversary Celebration, Kentucky Gifted Education Month, Kentucky Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, and February is Love the Bus Month with Bus Driver Appreciation Week, February 9-13, for drivers and monitors. We appreciate and celebrate you!
4.A.7. Lawrence County Schools “Built to Last” student-designed digital banner, created by LCHS art students, will be displayed at KSBA’s Annual Conference coming up later this month.
4.A.8. Mrs. Webb’s “Super Swap” promise was fulfilled from the Opening Day lottery for staff to have a job-free day. Friday, Mrs. Webb taught Fallsburg’s Middle School Language Arts classes.

5.D.3.d. Permission to renew/reapply for the Mathematics Achievement Fund (MAF) grant to continue the instructional services of the district’s two Math Coaches at Fallsburg Elementary School and Louisa West Elementary School, which we have had for the last two years. This is a matching continuation grant for $62,000 per position for a total of two positions over a two-year span, which totals $124,000/year/position. The coaches work in classrooms to make/coordinate intervention, work with teachers, provide cognitive coaching, provide professional learning, and run PLCs. Matt Maynard, Federal Programs
5.D.3.e. Permission to apply for the AED grant through KDE. The Kentucky AED Grant can assist with the purchase of new devices when none are presently available, replace AEDs that are more than 8 years old, and increase the inventory of such devices, all for the purpose of improving survival rates in the event of a cardiac event. 5.D.3.f. Permission to apply for the RUS-DLT Grant for classroom technology. This is a matching grant at 15% with a three-year award period, ’27-’29. The award ranges from $50,000-$1,000,000 and will provide opportunities to update current technology or replace worn and expired existing technology. Matt Maynard, Federal Programs Director
