LAWRENCE COUNTY FISCAL COURT SUMMARY OF ORDINANCE NO. 25-03

An Ordinance of the Lawrence County Fiscal Court relating to the operation of street-legal special purpose vehicles (SPVs) on highways within the jurisdictional boundaries of Lawrence County.

This ordinance incorporates the definitions set forth in 2025 Ky. Acts Ch. 89, effective June 27, 2025, and authorizes the operation of SPVs on all highways within the county to the extent permitted by the Act.

Operation of SPVs is prohibited on:
– Any highways not specifically allowed by this ordinance;
– Highways where the United States Department of Agriculture prohibits SPVs; and
– Controlled access systems, including interstates and parkways.
Additional restrictions include:
-SPVs may not travel more than 20 miles on a highway displaying centerline pavement markings.
– Minitrucks may not operate as SPVs on highways constructed under a federal highway program.
This ordinance was given its first reading on August 1, 2025, and its second reading on August 19, 2025. The ordinance shall take effect upon passage and publication as required by law.

THE FULL TEXT OF THE ORDINANCE IS ON FILE AND MAY BE REVIEWED AT LAWRENCE COUNTY FISCAL COURT, LOCATED AT 122 S. MAIN CROSS STREET, LOUISA, KENTUCKY, BETWEEN THE NORMAL WORKING HOURS OF 8:00 A.M. TO 4:30 P.M., MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.
