COLD RAINS, UNUSUALLY COLDER AIR FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR, BRINGS A CHILL SOMEWHAT IN ARRESTS IN THE BIG SANDY AREA, ESPECIALLY IN LAWRENCE COUNTY
FROM AROUND 4 P.M. OCTOBER 26 UNTIL AROUND 3 A.M. NOVEMBER 3 (8 DAYS), THERE WAS ONLY ONE ARREST IN LAWRENCE COUNTY; AFTERWARDS, IN THE FOLLOWING 66 HOUR PERIOD (2 & 3/4 DAYS), THERE WERE 15 ARRESTS IN LAWRENCE COUNTY.
SINCE THEN, STARTING FROM A MINUTE AFTER MIDNIGHT ON NOVEMBER 7 UP UNTIL A MINUTE BEFORE MIDNIGHT NOVEMBER 14,THERE HAVE BEEN JUST 5 ARRESTS IN LAWRENCE COUNTY.ONE WAS A ‘WEEKENDER’,
WHILE ANOTHER TURNED THEIRSELF IN ON AN WARRANTS IN ANOTHER COUNTY, LEAVING THE OTHER 3 AS LEGITIMATE STRAIT CRIMINAL ARRESTS.
In the past 8 day period from 12:01 A.M. November 7, 2019 thru to 11:59 P.M. November 14, 2019, there were at least 65 individuals who were arrested and were brought to be lodged at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, Kentucky. Out of those 65, 5 of those arrested were from Lawrence County.
Six Lawrence County residents were taken into custody in other Kentucky counties (3 in Martin County, 2 in Boyd County, and 1 in Scott County). Also a Fort Gay, West Virginia resident was first arrested in Lawrence County then transferred the next day to Pike County.
That is in comparison to the previous past 8 day period from 12:01 A.M. October 29, 2019 thru to 11:59 P.M. November 6, 2019, there were at least 76 individuals who were arrested and were brought to be lodged at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville, Kentucky. Out of those 76, 16 of those arrested were from Lawrence County.
Four Lawrence County residents were taken into custody in other Kentucky counties (2 in Pike County-1 of whom had originally been arrested in Johnson County,1 in Boyd County, and 1 in Greenup County).
Also a Fort Gay resident was arrested in Martin County.
The number of inmates that were lodged at the BSRDC in Paintsville as of late Thursday night, November 14, 2019, was 214.
The names and criminal charges of those latest five arrested in Lawrence County, along with the six Lawrence County residents (and 1 Fort Gay,W.Va.) arrested in other Ky. county jurisdictions, are the following:
Sydney Harper, 24, of Lancaster, Kentucky; was arrested on November 7, 2019, at 3:17 P.M., by patrolman officer Hunter James, of the Louisa Police Department,and was charged with:
• PROBATION VIOLATION (FOR FELONY OFFENSE).
Rebecca K. Lyons, 39, of Louisa, was arrested on November 8, 2019, at 3:55 A.M., by trooper Steven Davidson of the Kentucky State Police, and was charged with:
• FAILURE TO APPEAR,
• PROBATION VIOLATION (FOR FELONY OFFENSE).
Jeremy Matthew Thompson, 38, of Louisa, was taken into custody on November 8,2019, at 5:41 P.M., by the Lawrence County Jailer Office, to serve a guilty plea jail sentence (weekender):

William L. Copley, 46, of Fort Gay,West Virginia; was arrested on November 12,2019,at 10:39 A.M.,by court security officers Salyers, of the Lawrence County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:
• FAILURE TO APPEAR,
• PROBATION VIOLATION (FOR FELONY OFFENSE).
Willie C. Green, 35, of Blaine,Kentucky; was arrested on November 14, 2019, at 5:45 P.M., by Constable Daniel Castle, of the Lawrence County Constable Office-District 3 , and was charged with:
• INADEQUATE SILENCER (MUFFLER),
• DRUG PARAPHERNALIA – BUY/POSSESS,
• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE 1ST OFFENSE (DRUG UNSPECIFIED),
• TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE,
• DRIVING ON DUI SUSPENDED LICENSE -1ST OFFENSE,
• NO CLEARANCE LIGHTS.

Morgan Shae Wheeler, 21, of Louisa, was arrested in Scott County on November 6,2019, at 3:46 A.M., by a deputy of the Scott County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:
CHARGES UNKNOWN.
Lewis H. Pinder, 36, of Louisa, was arrested in Boyd County on November 9, 2019, at 7:43 P.M., by deputy Tim Duvall, of the Boyd County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:
• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE (METHAMPHETAMINE),
• THEFT BY UNLAWFUL TAKING OR DISPOSITION SHOPLIFTING UNDER/$500,
• BURGLARY, 3RD DEGREE,
• PROBATION VIOLATION (FOR FELONY OFFENSE).
Lewis Pinder’s bail bond was set at $5000 full cash for meth drug possession,$0 for the misdemeanor shoplifting charge,$0 for burglary charge & $0.00. NO BOND for the felony probation violation charge.
Robert R. Whitt, 39, Louisa, was arrested in Martin County on November 11, 2019, at 1:38 A.M., by a deputy of the Martin County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:
• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE 1ST OFFENSE (DRUG UNSPECIFIED),
• PRESCRIPTION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE NOT PROPER CONTAINER 1ST OFFENSE,
• TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE.
Verlin Kevin Bryant, 38, of Louisa, was arrested in Boyd County on November 12, 2019, at 9:45 P.M., by deputy Mark Wheeler of the Boyd County Sheriff Department,and was charged with:
• OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER/INFLUENCE ALCOHOL/DRUGS/ETC. .08 – 2ND OFFENSE,
• POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE (METHAMPHETAMINE).
Verlin Bryant’s bail bond was set at $2500 full cash for the DUI charge,and $0 bond on the meth drug possession.
John Mollett, 57, Louisa, was arrested in Martin County on November 13, 2019, at 1:47 P.M., by a deputy of the Martin County Sheriff Department, and was charged with:
• FALSE STATEMENT/ MISREPRESENT TO RECEIVE BENEFITS OVER/$100.
Lisa Mollett, 55, Louisa, was arrested in Martin County on November 13, 2019, at 1:48 P.M., by a deputy of the Martin County Sheriff Department, and was charged with: • FALSE STATEMENT/ MISREPRESENT TO RECEIVE BENEFITS OVER/$100, • UNLAWFUL ACCESS TO COMPUTER, 3RD DEGREE.
