Harlan, Ky. — Lawrence Co. ( 3-1 ) won their second consecutive contest with a 44-20 victory over Harlan Co. ( 0-5 ) on Friday night.
The Dawgs made the long road trip to Harlan Co. and kept the Black Bears winless.
Harlan Co. opened the scoring with a 90 yard touchdown pass from Ethan Rhymer to Jacob Sage and then Rhymer hit Carter Howard for the two point conversion and it was 8-0 Black Bears.
The Dawgs would tie it up on a Talon Pollack 44 yard touchdown pass to Carlo Chicko and Eli Fletcher added the two point conversion and it was 8-8.
Later in the first quarter Pollack found Jake Derifield for a 32 yard touchdown pass to make it 14-8 Lawrence Co.
In the second half William McDavid scored from four yards out and Dalton Runyons added the two point conversion and it was 22-8 Bulldogs.
On the ensuing kickoff Black Bear Thomas Jordan raced 65 yards for the touchdown to cut the lead to 22-14 Lawrence Co.
Dalton Runyons hauled in a 49 yard pass from Pollack to set the halftime score of 28-14 Dawgs.
In the third quarter Cody Crum scored on a 10 yard touchdown run and Pollack added the two point conversion run to make it 36-14 Bulldogs.
In the fourth quarter McDavid scored once again from four yards out and Pollack once again added the two point conversion run and it was 44-14 Dawgs.
Harlan Co. set the final score of 44-20 on a 56 yard touchdown pass from Rhymer to Howard.
Lawrence Co. finished with 421 yards of offense. They had 216 on the ground and 205 through the air.
Will McDavid was the leading rusher with 78 yards on 13 carries, Cavan Williams had 63 yards on 3 attempts, Cody Crum 47 yards on 11 carries, Pollack 34 yards on 4 carries.
Pollack was 12 of 27 for 205 yards, 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.
The Dawgs leading receiver was Dalton Runyons with 66 yards on 2 catches, Carlo Chicko 4 catches for 62 yards, Jake Derifield had 36 yards on 2 receptions, Logan Ratliff one catch for 32 yards, Kaden Johnson 2 receptions for five yards, Cody Crum 1 catch for 4 yards.
The Black Bears had 177 total yards. With 157 passing and 20 yards rushing.
The Dawgs will open up District play at home versus Estill Co. ( 3-2 ) next Friday night. The Engineers lost a 22-16 heartbreaker to South Laurel in Overtime on Friday.

“… Pleased that our team showed some maturity going on a long road trip and coming away with a victory. It was an interesting atmosphere for a high school football game.”
“… I thought we did a lot of good things offensively, but we were not as sharp as we would have liked at times. With this team, I feel like the more we play the better we will get.”
