LAWRENCE CO PUBLIC LIBRARY: Changes will be made (TO UPCOMING BUDGET)

LCPL WILL MAKE CHANGES TO THE EDUCATION ASSISTANCE POLICY…

The Lawrence County Public Library (LCPL) Board of Trustees Meeting was on Monday May 11, 2026 at Noon at the library, 102 W. Main Street, Louisa, Kentucky 41230. LCPL Director Deena Meade was in attendance along with the Board of Trustees including Lindsay Smith, Lynn Perry, Andie Mattix and JoJo Triplett. Connie Fairchild was absent. Josh Puckett, Library Lawyer, was also in attendance and Jeff ? from Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives (KDLA)

APPROVE MINUTES

The Minutes for April 2026 Regular Meeting were unanimously approved with a Motion by Andie Mattix and seconded by Lynn Perry.

APPROVE FINANCIALS

The March 2026 Financials were unanimously approved with a Motion by JoJo Triplett and seconded by Lynn Perry.

DIRECTORS REPORT

Director Meade gave the update on the library. Meade said, “The Feeding Program for 2026 has been approved.”

Meade also has been in contact with Dan Smith, a furniture builder for libraries, to redo the staff area at the library. Meade said, “Any furniture leftover will be used for the future Blaine library.”

BUDGET DISCUSSION, SETTING TAX RATES  BEGIN NEXT MONTH

There was discussion on the 2026 – 2027 Budget by the Board of Trustees. Changes will be made in some instances. The Board will set the Compensating Rate at the June Meeting next month.

EDUCATION ASSISTANCE POLICY

This education policy involves staff keeping up their certification. Several of the items will be changed. Five classes are required for employment at the library.

  2.    Approve April 2026 Meeting Minutes – Motion by Andie Mattix and 2nd by Lynn Perry. No Opposed.
  3.    Approve March 2026 Financials – Motion by JoJo Triplett and 2nd by Lynn Perry. None Opposed.
  4.    Directors Report – Deena Meade had discussion.
  5.    2026-2027 Budget – Discussion
  6.    Education Assistance Policy – Motion by Andie Mattix and 2nd by JoJo Triplett. None Opposed.
  7.    Next regular meeting June 8,2026 @ Noon
  8.    Adjourn – Motion by JoJo Triplett and 2nd by Andie Mattix.
