Eastern, Ky. — For the eight consecutive seasons the Lawrence Co. Softball team captured a District title with a 16-1 victory over Floyd Central in the 58th championship game Wednesday.

Kensley Feltner belted two home runs, drove in four and scored three times, Bree Jones had three hits and scored twice, Dani Crum had two hits including a double, one RBI and scored twice, Ella Fitzpatrick singled twice, had two RBIs and scored once, Gracie Preece singled and scored twice, Shelby Blevins doubled, drove in one and scored once, Ella Smith doubled and knocked in two runs, Addalyn Woods scored twice, Abby Nelson, Jada Patton and Emalynn Kitts all scored once.
Taylor Blevins was the winning pitcher in the circle, allowed two hits, one run, struck out three and walked one. Offensively she singled and had two runs batted in.

The Bulldogs improved to 25-12 on the year with the three inning victory over the Jaguars who dropped to 10-16.
Lawrence Co. won the 60th District in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
Lawrence Co. has won the 58th District in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023.

The 15th Region Softball Draw will be Friday at Noon and the first round games are tentatively set for Sunday at Stonecrest Park in Prestonsburg.

“… It’s always good to win a district title! Very thankful for this group both players and coaches. It’s been a long, trying season and when you hit 25 wins you have had a great year! We started this season with some important goals. We have accomplished several of those and this district championship was one. The big one is next week! We draw Friday at noon to see who’s next.”
