THREATENING FOREST FIRE ERUPTS IN INEZ AREA OF MARTIN COUNTY; OFFICIALS ADVISE  RESIDENTS IN THE AFFECTED AREA TO TAKE ‘EXTREME CAUTION’

NOVEMBER 10, 2024 – written by WADE QUEEN

Emergency officials in Martin County, Kentucky have issued a public service announcement Sunday afternoon, November 10, due to a very extremely large forest fire in the Inez area, which numerous firefighting teams are currently engaging with.

Due to the increased wildland fire activity, officials are asking residents to please exercise extreme caution in and around the hills of the INEZ area, to Crooked Run and Cassell Branch, over into Turkey Creek Hill and the old BBB Construction.

Currently the Kentucky Division of Forestry and Inez Fire Rescue are working to contain the forest fire.

As of 2:30 P.M., officials have estimated that approximately 500+ acres are on fire or have burnt in the affected area.
