COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Both games we led right around halftime and were right in the game in the second half, both games played out the same. We faltered in the third quarter, dug a hole but fought till the end. With just over a minute left we forced a five second call down 13-14 points and told my staff and the girls how proud I was for that. We didn’t quit and that shows the heart of our team.”
“… These girls are a joy to Coach. They support each other and help each other. We got a little bit fatigued tonight and got in some foul trouble. Our energy on the bench was as good as it gets. We are battling injuries right with some key people and hopefully with only one game until Dec 19th we can get some girls healthy.”
“… We brought in teams for the tourney that would challenge us and it was an exciting two days of basketball. Congrats to Grace Christian for winning the championship and to Lawrence Co. for a well played title game both teams played great. Chapmanville is another quality team and that is what mom would have wanted. She is all about competition. She was ahead of her time. She played in the Air Force and scored over 100 points in a game. Could have played in the WNBA. When I was about 14/15 years old and I came down the stairs and she was reading a book with a couple kids kicking a ball and I asked her what she was reading and she said they wanted to start boys soccer at school and didn’t have anyone to Coach she was learning the rules so they wouldn’t think she didn’t know what she was doing. She did it for the kids, the tournament is for the kids and will always be for the kids. I hope they had a good time. We fed them well, had some fun and got to take home some hardware.”
“… I want to thank Tournament Director Jake Arbaugh for all of his hard work and look forward to future tournaments. “
