LADY DAWGS READY TO TURN THE PAGE TO 2026; Host 2A Section 8 Tournament Tuesday night

Gatlinburg, Tn. — The Lawrence County Lady Bulldogs went 1-2 last week in the Smoky Mountain Winter Classic.

The Lady Dawgs enjoying some free time during their trip to Tennessee.

Lumpkin County ( GA ) 64 Lawrence County 55 ( Wednesday ) 

In the third place game the team out of the Peach state outlasted the Dawgs. 

Brooke Marcum had 15 points and 5 rebounds, Jada Patton 13 points and 5 rebounds, Caroline See 12 points and 7 rebounds, Maddison Artrip 9 points and 6 rebounds, Emalynn Kitts 4 points, Jenna Murphy 2 points. 

The Dawgs hit 6 three pointers and went 13 of 21 from the free throw line. 

North Bullitt 72 Lawrence County 59 ( Tuesday ) 

In the semifinals the Eagles ( 8-5 ) outlasted the Dawgs to move into the title game. 

Brooke Marcum had 16 points and 9 rebounds, Jada Patton 15 points and 6 rebounds, and Emalynn Kitts 14 points.  Maddison Artrip put in 6 points and 6 rebounds, Gracie Woods 5 points, Caroline See 2 points, Addison Bowen 1 point.

The Bulldogs hit 5 three pointers and went 20 of 30 from the free throw line. 

Lawrence County 52 Volunteer ( TN ) 50 ( Monday ) 

In the first game of the Classic the Dawgs erased a 13 point deficit to pull out the victory. 

Senior Brooke Marcum made her Bulldog debut a memorable one with a team high 17 points, while Jada Patton had 16 points. Maddison Artrip 5 points and 6 rebounds Caroline See 5 points, Jenna Murphy 4 points, Emalynn Kitts 3 points and Gracie Woods 2 points.

The Dawgs hit 5 three pointers and went 13 of 18 from the free throw line. 

The Bulldogs ( 4-6 ) will host the Class 2A Section 8 tournament beginning Tuesday at 6:00 vs Perry Co. Central ( 3-8 ) in the semifinal round. 

Floyd Central ( 9-3 ) will play Johnson Central ( 6-4 ) in the other semifinal on Thursday at 6:00. 

The Championship game is Saturday at 5:30.

“… Tennessee was a great trip for our girls to try and get used to playing together. Just getting Brooke out and learning to play with her will take us a bit. We’re definitely excited about the possibilities of this team.

“We played great competition that really challenged us and helped us grow as a team. We are excited for the 2A beginning this week. It will be a challenging tournament. We’re excited and looking forward to it.”
