Louisa, Ky. — Lawrence Co. improved to 12-7 on the year with a 59-35 runaway win over Prestonsburg Friday evening.
Lawrence Co. is now 3-1 in 58th District action and the Blackcats are 0-3.

The Bulldogs were led by Sophie Adkins with 22 points, Kaison Ward tallied 12 points, Jada Patton netted 9 points, Abby Nelson and Leandra Curnutte added 6 points each, Abby Maynard had 3 points and Hallie Adkins chipped in with 1 point.
The Dawgs hit 3 three pointers and went 14 of 20 from the free throw line.

Prestonsburg ( 8-8 ) was led by Audrey Prater with 13 points, Haley Lafferty, Jade Fitzpatrick and Allison Howard had 6 points each, Ashley Tackett and Amelia Newsome had 2 points each.
The Blackcats hit 1 three pointer and went 6 of 12 from the foul line.

Lawrence Co. will return to action next Wednesday at 15th Region favorite Pikeville ( 15-2 ) before a Friday road game against District foe Betsy Layne ( 11-6 ).

“… Very proud of our girls for coming out and getting this district win tonight. We’re moving in the right direction. We’re battling and competing and that’s what we like to see right now.
“…We started the game strong, struggled a little in the 3rd to score but picked our defense up in the 4th and was able to put the game away. Very proud of how we finished and how the girls have played this week.”
