I’ve never been a fan of political cartoons, they’re often in poor taste and only create division. This is my response to one of those cartoons that portrayed Eastern Kentucky poorly. As an Eastern Kentuckian myself, I can’t stand when our region is portrayed as poor, helpless, or less than.
The flooding in South Eastern Kentucky is devastating and there’s a long road to recovery but there has been nothing but aid and support from fellow Kentuckians. When disaster strikes our neighbors are there to lend a helping hand. That’s what makes us Kentucky Strong ⚡️

I have, personally, heard comments, made right here in Louisa, about the Flooding victims! Comments placing blame upon the victims, like: ” Well, ya know they heard the water coming! They coulda got outta there”!, …. and so on! HOW COLDHEARTED can people get! I’m sure it’d been a piece of cake, at 3:00 AM, while totally asleep…to hear flood waters, get up, grab your family, and get out of your house BEFORE the waters destroyed everything you owned! I cannot believe the mindset of some people, who have so very little love for their neighbors. That is as heartbreaking, to me, as the actually devastations that our East Kentuckians are trying to recover from. Father God, please, shower Your mercy upon all the victims everyday. :'(
