Christmas-themed shows on tap from Nov. 25 – Dec. 17
Prestonsburg, Ky. – Billie Jean Osborne’s Kentucky Opry and will kick off its run of annual Christmas shows on Friday, November 25. As always, the Kentucky Opry Junior Pros will be the special guests opening the shows. This will be the organization’s 21st Christmas season since the Mountain Arts Center (MAC) opened in October of 1996.
MAC executive director and Kentucky Opry emcee Clayton Case says the group is ready for an exciting season.
“The band, vocalists, and technical crew have outdone themselves this year,” said Case. “We have been rehearsing and working hard these last few weeks, and we are so excited to show the community and region a program that reflects the joy and hope of the holiday season.”
Veteran Bassist Cody Branham says it’s always a pleasure to perform for the audience during the Christmas holiday.
“The Kentucky Opry is like one big family,” said Branham. “From the singers and musicians, to everyone behind the scenes, we all love what we do. This year’s show is fun, entertaining, and will really put you in the Christmas spirit.”
As always, a Kentucky Opry show would not be the same without the antics and commentary from resident comedian, Munroe. He will always have those special surprises in store for the band, audience, and especially emcee Clayton Case.
There will be a few personnel changes for the upcoming season. Stepping into one of the lead guitar roles is the accomplished local musician Mark Stephens. He will add almost forty years of experience in the music business to the show. The popular horn section will return, adding that traditional flavor to some old favorites. It consists of Matt Moon on Trombone, Dan Houston on Sax, and Frances Lotz playing Trumpet.
This season’s shows are November 25, December 3, 9, 10, 11, 16, and 17. All shows will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $10 to $13.
