What started out as a welfare check complaint by police and state child services in the city of Middlesbore, in Bell County, Kentucky over the weekend, ended up in a disturbing criminal discovery, involving a male suspect already known by area police during his few years of adulthood.
According to the arrest report, on Saturday night July 16, 2022, at approximately 6:30 P.M., several Middlesboro police officers were following up on a previous night’s complaint involving juveniles fleeing from a South 23rd Street residence. Department of Human Resources Social workers also responded to the home
Responding were Middlesboro Officers Caleb Ayers, Morgan Justice, and Jacob Quillen, who followed the DHR social worker into the home after determining exigent circumstances existed prior to entering
The occupants of the residence were Nicholas Taylor Gray, 23, of Middlesboro, and three juveniles. Nicholas Gray was found in the bathroom naked with two of the small children, his son and daughter. The third child was found hiding behind a refrigerator in the kitchen and had to be detained after becoming irate. After the third child made her way to a bedroom, Officer Justice noticed a clear bag containing suspected Methamphetamine.
The same child stated that Nicholas Gray, a convicted felon, had a firearm in the closet of the bedroom. Officer Morgan Justice then retrieved a 9mm Hi-Point carbine rifle in the floor of the closet, within reach of the children.
After everyone was escorted out of the home, Nicholas Gray was asked for consent to search the residence, which was given by him. During the search, officers found a box of syringes, both capped and uncapped, a pencil box containing more syringes and marijuana cigarettes, another bag of suspected methamphetamine, and a prescription pill bottle from someone who did not live in the home.
Outside the home, officers saw two older dogs leashed and chained to the house and ground that were also malnourished and neglected with open infected wounds. They also did not have access to food or water.
The third juvenile had been staying with Nicholas Gray and was in a relationship with him. This relationship, investigated by Officer Caleb Ayers, lead to a rape charge against Gray, who also admitted that the girl used methamphetamine daily. The children were taken to Middlesboro ARH to be evaluated and it was determined that they had been subjected to abuse.
Nicholas Taylor Gray was arrested and booked into the Bell County Detention Center and was charged with a total of thirty-five (35) criminal offenses, which were as the following:
*CRUELTY TO ANIMALS-2ND DEGREE (15 SEPARATE CHARGES COUNTS),
*WANTON ENDANGERMANT-1ST DEGREE (3 SEPARATE CHARGES COUNTS),

Nicholas Gray is currently being held at the Bell County Detention Center in Pineville, KY., and he has no bond on all of the charges except for one, the third degree rape, which is for a $250,000 full cash bond.
Two Department of Human Resources workers, Animal Control Officer (Patsy Bracken), Middlesboro Fire/EMS, and sergeant Jeremiah Johnson of the Middlesboro Police Department, assisted on the case at the crime scene.
This latest criminal case involving Nicholas Taylor is the most severe for the young but already hard criminal, as though he is only 23 years old, Nicholas Taylor in his little over five years as an adult, had already been arrested in several southeastern Kentucky counties at least twenty times, on at least forty-four (44) criminal charges, mostly felonies; and he has already served a brief sentence in state prison.
I hope they keep him in jail , anyone who would do this to child deserves to be in jail. Shouldn’t be aloud to walk among the common public where other children are !!!!!!
I know him personally yes he is a criminal but yes he has also had a very hard life and people don’t realize what he has had to go through. And for anybody to ever think he would hurt his babies is crazy. He was plainly using the bathroom when the police came into the home and by law it is said that all officers are to wear body cams to record and save every situation on a daily bases. His babies are stuck to him like glue and always have been. They are daddies babies and you could ask them now and they’d tell you the same exact thing. On over half of these charges he was falsely charged and only being because the officer don’t like him and his family and they never had. Even the social workers testified for this young man and stated the officers was lying after his lawyer levi tuner also caught these officers in lie after lie at the first court appearance. I believe if your going to lie you should be able to do it in a professional manner as to not get yourself caught up. For officer Morgan thats directed. and officer Jeremiah Johnson has been around Nick for many years now he knows how he is with his babies and he knows Nick would never hurt his babies or a single other soul. It states clearly this female was the one who was irate when the officers entered the home and had to be detained because she was fighting with the officers trying not to be arrested and trying to get away. While Nick was trying to get outside so his kids wouldn’t have to see that. And they fail to realize this girl was arrested at this residence not just that time but several other times and they never did nothing to him about it then so why did they this time. There was also calls placed to the police department where Nick took his babies and ran to his mother’s apartment because he was trying to get away from this girl due to her hitting him and his children. And that’s on police file as well and the officers who responded that night to his mother’s apartment can testify the same. The only dog at nicks house that belonged to him was the pitbull and it was the most healthy and biggest dog there no doubt about that. The rightful owners of the other animals should have been big enough to man up and take responsibility for their own animals. Nick never hurt nobody. He never kidnapped nobody. He never raped nobody. And it was clearly stated that he was charged eith several charges just because of what happened the night before which was clearly stated had absolutely nothing to do with him. Which is also wrong. If i was a lawyer I would take this case free of charge just to prove how dirty law enforcement is and how dirty the court system is here in bell county Kentucky. That girl sleeps around with men 4× her age so how come he’s the only one they ever said anything about it to? Doesn’t make sense does it. Anything Middleboro police does doesn’t make sense. You would think the officers that know Nick would have took up for him and put a stop to this instead of trying to take a man’s life from him just because they can. And the gun in children’s reach? Tell me what 1 year old and 3 year old can move a big cabinet 3× there side and pick up 50 pounds of stuff that was laying on top of that gun in the very back of the closet. There ain’t a child in this world that young who is that strong. I’ve been to that house and kick could hardly move those things himself. As far as the drugs and stuff yes he’s wrong for that he knew better I won’t take up for him on that part but the rest is ridiculous and it’s wrong and it was done just because it could be done and they had the power to do so. The supreme court and the government really needs to come investigate this county. Nick has all these charges beat except for the drugs and the gun because he is a convicted felon. When he does his family is going to own bell county. They’re going to own the police department and he’s going to own every news station that’s falsely advertised his name and put him and his family under emotion and physical distress. There is some big lawyers who’s already working on it dying to get these officers and new channels and other people that was involved into a federal court house. I feel bad for you guys. It’s ridiculous how you can judge somebody and slander their name and make them look horrible when u have absolutely no idea what really happened. Have a nice {censored} day!
