Johnson County Grand Jury indicted several on July 15,2020 including a Paintsville man for threatening a school.
Commonwealth vs. Steve Belcher
Terroristic threatening, 2nd degree
Belcher intentionally threatened to commit an act likely to result in the death or serious injury “to any person at a scheduled event, any person at a place of worship, any student group, teacher, volunteer worker, elementary or secondary school, vocational school, other person reasonably expected to lawfully be on school property or at a school sanctioned activity, if that threat is related to their employment by the school, or work, or attendance at the school or school function”.
According to court documents, Belcher did not need to specifically identify the person(s) the threat was made toward in order to violate the section of KRS:508.070.
