James E. “Jim” Walker
1938 — 2017
James E. “Jim” Walker 78 of Lexington, KY formerly of Louisa passed away Saturday March 4, 2017 at Kings Daughters Medical Center following a brief illness.
Jim was born Dec. 24, 1938 at Gallup, KY the son of the late Robert William and Louvenia Burnette Walker. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-laws Charles F. and Joy Walker and Bonnie Thompson.
Jim was a self-employed businessman operating the Sears Catalog Store in Louisa for many years and also the Giovanni Pizza in Paintsville. Jim served on the Louisa City Council and was a one time President and Manager of Louisa-Fort Gay Little League Baseball. He loved to travel and enjoyed reading and watching UK and the Reds games and spending time with his grandchildren.
Jim leaves behind his loving wife Mary Emma Preece Walker and children Diana Bradley (Dennis) of Nicholasville, KY, Jennifer Rose (Dale) of Louisa and Daniel Hardin also of Lexington; 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; siblings Robert Walker (Edith) and Myrtle Walker; brother-in-laws Shannon Preece (Toni) and Kenneth Thompson all of Louisa; several nieces and nephews; and his extended family Carol Workman and Greg Nelson and their daughters and family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 7, at 11:00 am at the Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery Louisa, KY.
Friends may visit the family on Monday from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home.
