According to the Fayette County Coroner’s office, three (3)-month-old Greyson Torres died Wednesday afternoon, October 2, at the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital in Lexington. The county coroner said the death is being investigated as a homicide.
Two people are now facing charges in connection with the case. An arrest citation report stated the injuries to the child were described as being the “result of intentional physical abuse.” The arrest citation also stated that the doctors responsible for caring for the baby say the child’s injuries were life-threatening.
The arrest citation named Amancio Torres-Trevino Jr., 20, stated the abuse happened on Sunday, September 29, in the 2800 block of Alumni Drive. According to the citation, Anmancio Torres-Trevino was alone with the child, who is a relative of his, when the injuries happened.
Kaela Breann Walker, 20, is also accused in the case. Kaela Walker’s arrest citation says she never reported the abuse to law enforcement or social workers. Kaela Walker filed an emergency protective order (EPO) against Amanacio Torres-Trevino for herself and the baby on Monday, September 30.
