INEZ MAN STRIPS NAKED TO RUN AWAY FROM OFFICERS AT SHERIFF’S OFFICE

HIGH AS A KITE SUSPECT GOES ON LUNATIC SCREAMING FIT ABOUT THE ‘IMPENDING PURGE’, BREAKS OUT WINDOWS OF TWO MARTIN COUNTY JAIL VEHICLES IN TWO COUNTIES

 LESLIE K. MAYNARD, 41, OF INEZ, WHO WENT ON WEEKEND CRUDE, LEWD, RUDE, & NUDE CRIME SPREE IN MARTIN COUNTY.

A man from the Blacklog area of Inez was arrested and taken to jail, albeit belatedly on Saturday night, December 5, after his allegedly drunken criminal escapade that began with him ripping down signs at three local businesses and ending finally with him kicking windows out of two jail transport vehicles.

According to the arrest citation report, Martin County District 2 Constable Tony Preece was dispatched to the Crum Funeral Home in Inez to investigate allegations that Leslie K. Mayanrd, 41, of Blacklog Road, was ripping off signs from the funeral home walls.

Shortly thereafter, Constable Tony Preece was informed that Leslie Maynard had also been to both the Dollar General Store and the Zip Zone convenience store, tore down signs at both of the store locations. and overturned a candy display at the convenience store.

Constable Tony Preece located Leslie Maynard at Tommy’s Auto Sales on Blacklog Road, where he then arrested Maynard on three separate counts of criminal mischief. Constable Preece then took Leslie Maynard to ther Martin County Sheriff Department office for booking.

Martin County Sheriff Department deputy William Tyler Lafferty then reported in the citation that Leslie Maynard was not handcuffed during the booking, when he then managed to rip off a metal sign off the wall of the booking room of the sheriff’s office, to which then he taking off his clothes and running outside from the sheriff office.

Leslie Maynard was quickly apprehended and placed in the back of a jail transport vehicle.

Deputy Lafferty then wrote on in the citation report “while inside the back of the cruiser, Leslie Maynard kicked the back passenger side window out and the glass went flying all over two of our transport officers.”

Leslie Maynard was then placed in shackles and made to sit on the curb while waiting for a second jail transport cruiser to arrive. Leslie Maynard began to scream, yell, and curse, and was talking out of his head, deputy Lafferty wrote on in the citation report.

Deputy Lafferty wrote that Leslie Maynard yelled at the officers, “The purge is about to begin and everyone is going to die.”

Leslie Maynard was placed in a second jail transport cruiser. During the transport to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, Leslie Maynard kicked out both passenger side windows, even though he was shackled. Leslie Maynard was charged with another charge count of criminal mischief, in which Leslie Maynard will be charged in Johnson County for the vandalism of the second jail transport cruiser, since that incident occurred there and not in Martin County.

In all, Leslie K. Maynard was charged in his wild substance induced rampage for the total of twelve (12) criminal charges, which consist of the following:

• CRIMINAL MISCHIEF 3RD DEGREE (3 SEPARATE CHARGE COUNTS),
• ESCAPE 3RD DEGREE (2 SEPARATE CHARGE COUNTS),
• CRIMINAL MISCHIEF, 1ST DEGREE,
• DISORDERLY CONDUCT, 2ND DEGREE,
• MENACING,
• INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2ND DEGREE,
• TERRORISTIC THREATENING, 3RD DEGREE,
• WANTON ENDANGERMENT-2ND DEGREE,
• PUBLIC INTOXICATION-CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (EXCLUDES ALCOHOL).

Speaking about the acts that were committed by Leslie Maynard, Martin County District 2 Constable Tony Preece gave a total summary ‘both the good and the bad, of the incident:

“I’m thankful that no one was injured by the broken glass,” Constable Preece stated. “To damage one cruiser is bad enough, but now, we have two that will have windows replaced before they’re back on the road. Hopefully the repairs can be completed quickly so that it doesn’t create an inconvenience for our transport officers.”
