Humana is showing some humanity. The Louisville-based health care giant has stepped up to help hurricane victims in both Texas and Florida.
On Aug. 26, the company’s philanthropic arm, the Humana Foundation, donated $250,000 to the American Red Cross to help the organization provide vital services to those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas. And on Monday, Sept. 11, the foundation donated another $1 million to the Red Cross for Irma victims.
Humana also will match storm relief donations from its employees.
“We stand with the millions of Americans who are dealing with the devastation brought by this powerful storm,” said Humana president and CEO Bruce Broussard in a press release. “We are committed to providing support and assistance for disaster relief and recovery efforts to affected communities that more than one million Humana members, more than 10,000 employees, and countless health care provider partners call home.”
Members and volunteers from the Red Cross currently are mobilized in both Texas and Florida — and surrounding affected by the hurricanes — and are mounting a massive relief effort.
