Mike Smith leaving Tolsia for South Gallia, Rebels looking for new coaches

Fort Gay, W. Va. — Tolsia will have a new Head Coach in Football and Basketball next season after Mike Smith ( 50 ) resigned from both positions to be the Head Football Coach at South Gallia High in Crown City, Ohio. South Gallia plays in Division Vll which is the smallest in Ohio and are also the Rebels.
Smith coached the (Tolsia) Rebels in football for the last six seasons and led Tolsia to a state runner-up finish in 2015 and a quarterfinal appearance last season. He coached the basketball team the last two seasons which was his second stint as Head Coach. He led the Rebels to the 1998 Basketball state title in his first coaching job.
Smith will also take a position at South Gallia but which one is unknown at this time.

“… My time at Tolsia has been amazing, it’s been an awesome run. I’d like to say thanks to all my coaches… they did an awesome job. The decision to leave was made FOR me. The BOE had the opportunity to hire me back but chose not to. The move for me will be a new challenge that I’m excited to take on and looking forward to a new beginning.”
