Harold Gene Johns passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
He was born in Louisa, KY on August 20, 1939 and was the son of the late Clyde Elmer Johns and Elva Williams Johns. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Christopher David Johns, and a brother Clyde C. Johns.
Harold graduated with honors from Louisa High School in 1957. He served as Postmaster at the Louisa Post Office and retired in 1992. During his tenure there, he also served as Postmaster Trainer for new employees and received numerous certificates. After retirement, he was employed as CSR for Wheeler Clevenger Oil Co. and then as the Emergency Management Director for Lawrence County, Kentucky and again retired in 2005. Harold’s hobbies included restoring antique cars and collecting antique toys, etc. He also enjoyed woodworking, yard work, and traveling.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Doris Lampert Johns. They were married on June 7, 1964. He is also survived by a daughter Beverly (Gary) Blankenship and a son Kevin (Betsy) Johns; and two grandchildren Ryland and Caroline Johns, to whom he was “Pappaw”.
At Harold’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A private burial will be at Greenlawn East.
Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Johns and her family.
