Wayne County wreck claims life

May 11, 2026 – 7:18 am

FORT GAY, W.Va. — One person was killed in a vehicle crash early Monday morning in Wayne County.

The wreck occurred on U.S. Route 52 in Fort Gay.

Authorities said the crash happened at a few minutes before 6 a.m.

An investigation into the wreck is underway.

WV511 reported that both eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway were closed in the area of the crash.

A spokesperson for the Wayne Co. State police said officials are notifying the family of the victim. We will bring that to you as soon as the information is released (which could be later today), she said.
