ACTC, Northeast Kentucky Career Center, Kentucky Career Center, and EKCEP offer free CDL training to eligible residents

ASHLAND, Ky. – Ashland Community and Technical College (ACTC) is proud to share an opportunity for eligible residents of Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup and Lawrence counties to receive free commercial driver’s license (CDL) training through a partnership with ACTC Workforce Solutions, Northeast Kentucky Career Center, Kentucky Career Center, and the Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program (EKCEP).

The CDL Plus training program will be held Sept. 14 through Oct. 16 at ACTC’s Technology Drive campus.

The program is designed to help eligible participants earn industry-recognized credentials and prepare for high-demand careers in commercial driving.

Participants will receive Class A CDL training, Hazardous Materials Entry-Level driver training (ELDT) endorsement, and an OSHA 10 Safety Awareness Card and First Aid/CPR certification at no cost.

“The CDL Plus training program gives participants an opportunity to gain valuable, industry-recognized credentials without the financial barrier that can sometimes prevent people from pursuing a new career,” said Robin Harris, ACTC associate vice-chancellor of workforce solutions. “By partnering with the Northeast Kentucky Career Center, the Kentucky Career Center, and EKCEP, we’re helping connect residents with the training they need to pursue in-demand careers and meet the workforce needs of employers across our region.”

To qualify, participants must live in Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup and Lawrence County and be eligible for and enrolled through their local Northeast Kentucky Community Action Career Center.

Individuals interested in determining their eligibility should contact their nearest Career Center:

  • Grayson: (606) 474-2412
  • Louisa: (606) 638-4949
  • Olive Hill: (606)286-4443
  • Sandy Hook: (606) 738-4731

For residents of Boyd and Greenup County, contact Kari Woodman at (606) 920-2024 or visit the Kentucky Career Center at 1844 Carter Avenue.

Space is limited, and interested individuals are encouraged to contact their local Career Center as soon as possible to determine eligibility and enroll.
