Morgantown, W. Va. — Former Lawrence Co. football standout Dontae Wright is changing jobs and moving closer to home after being named outside linebackers coach at West Virginia University on Tuesday.
Dontae is a 2002 graduate of LCHS and played college football at Miami University in Ohio. He was the safeties coach at Western Michigan University last season.
Dontae will be joining a familiar face from Lawrence Co. in Morgantown as Gerad Parker was recently named offensive coordinator for the Mountaineers. The two haven’t been on the same sideline since 2007 when they were both with the University of Kentucky.
In an article from the Lexington Herald Leader about the coaching tree from Lawrence Co. Jason Micheal, Gerad Parker and Dontae Wright
Said Phil Ratliff who tragically passed away:
“One of us gets a head coaching job and gets the band back together. Whether that would really work, obviously, a lot would have to go into that. But it would really be something if we could pull it off.”
