Morehead, Ky. — Former LC Bulldog baseball standout and Morehead St. sophomore Jackson Feltner has been named Preseason OVC player of the year and has earned a Third-Team Preseason All-American nod from Collegiate Baseball.
He is the only player from the Ohio Valley Conference on CB’s preseason list, after earning Freshman All-America from the national media publication in 2021.
Feltner was named Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year (MSU’s first in program history) ranked second among all true freshmen in Division I with a .390 average.
Feltner’s season stats also included a .652 slugging percentage, .452 on-base percentage, 64 hits, 11 home runs, 10 doubles, 42 RBI and a .981 fielding percentage at first base.
After hitting a pair of home runs in Morehead State’s series at Tennessee Tech, the first baseman Feltner became the fifth freshman in program history to hit double-digit homers in a season. He’s the first to hit 10-plus homers as a freshman since Taylor Davis in 2009 and now ranks tied for fourth in program history in freshman season homers with 11. Ten of his 11 long balls came versus conference teams.

Feltner also put together conference-leading hitting and reached base streaks at 27 and 36 games, respectively. His hitting streak, which came to an end in the final game at the league tournament, marked the second-longest hitting streak in program history, behind only Glenn Jones 31 game hitting streak spanning the 1980 and 1981 seasons. Feltner’s 36 game reached base streak ranked seventh-longest in program history. He got at least one hit in every OVC game except one.
He was one of only two OVC players to rank in the top five of the three major slash lines (batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage). He also put together 19 multi-hit efforts and 12 multi-RBI performances.
Morehead State baseball is set to open the 2022 season on Feb. 18-20 at Kennesaw State.
