BOLO MANHUNT UNDERWAY IN AND AROUND FLOYD COUNTY FOR DANGEROUS FUGITIVE
According to a press release statement, Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt and his department, along with the Kentucky State Police, are continuing their search for a man who allegedly tried to run deputies over with his vehicle following an attempt to serve warrants on several criminal charges, while later on outrunning state police in a vehicle pursuit.
According to Sheriff John Hunt, a little after midnight, Monday night/Tuesday morning, March 21, Floyd County sheriff deputies were attempting to serve warrants on 29-year old James M. Sexton.
Sexton was located hiding in a field inside a blue Chevy Aveo. When he was approached by deputies Sexton fled and allegedly attempted to run the deputies over and drove away.
Kentucky State Police assisted in a search for Sexton into the morning hours.
Later Tuesday afternoon, Kentucky State Police gave chase to a Silver Chevy Colorado in the community of David suspecting Sexton to be the driver. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department was called back out to assist in the search.
Police acted on tips throughout Tuesday, but were still unable to locate him.
Sheriff Hunt says after attempting to run down his deputies James Sexton is considered to be dangerous.
Police officials said the longer Sexton runs the more problems he causes.
“He’s creating a lot of danger in his actions, you know, for whatever reason he’s avoiding capture and that is, he’s creating some dangerous situations during that,” said Sheriff Hunt.
Deputies said Sexton is wanted for assault and wanton endangerment.
They said he’s also facing several additional charges for wanton endangerment towards a police officer.
If anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of James Sexton, you are urged to call your local law enforcement authorities.
