Louisa, Ky. — For the first time since 2010 Lawrence Co. will host the 60th District Baseball/Softball Tournament that begins on Monday night (tonight). Both teams will be the #1 seeds in their respective tournaments.
The Softball Dawgs (14-17) are in a little bit of a tail spin right now after dropping a double header at Harrison Co. on Saturday. But LC is 6-0 in District play this season and has never lost a game while being in the 60th going 24-0.
The Lady Dawgs are looking for their third straight District championship. This will be the last District Tournament before moving to the 58th next season. Ciana Bowen leads the team in wins and home runs. Brittany Shapaka and Halli Caudill have both been solid at the plate. This will be the last go around for Seniors Natalie Rice and Haleigh Peck and they want to make the most of their last home games.
Bulldog Senior Natalie Rice
“…When I first heard that we got to host the district tournament my senior year I was elated. We are all super pumped to get this post-season underway. We’re going into the district tournament tomorrow with a clear head, ready to work hard and play hard. We want this bad and we’re ready to show it.”
Bulldogs looking for 3rd straight District title
The Baseball Dawgs (20-11) are also in a little bit of a slump losing three games in a row to end the regular season.
The Bulldogs are 6-0 in District play this year and are looking for their third straight 60th District championship. The Dawgs have battled injuries from the get go and have really fought this season under some tough circumstances.
Brad Parks and Austin Roe have led the offense this season. Youngsters CJ Fairchild and Bryce Blevins have been solid on the mound.
