George Franklin Howell District 1

Magistrate, Democrat ticket

Cand. 2026 – George Franklin Howell District 1

“…41 years highway experience.

Okay, my name is George Franklin Howell. I live on highway 1496. I have been trying to get this road maintained for 3 or 4 years but they tell me, I live on a class c road. Well, 1496 goes over and meets route one that goes over into district 9, and then it turns left-handed and goes down a short ways. And goes back into (State DOT) district 12 again, and as soon as it drops off a district 9, when it snows it turns into a white glacier for up to 4 or 5 days because evidently the salt won’t-work over here. And I’m getting a little disgusted with it. I think it’s a short distance from being discrimination. For the fact is, we all pay the same amount of taxes in the state. And I don’t see what the difference is. There’s probably more  people that live on 1496 on the Lawrence county side than lives over on the Carter County side. But whoever that man is that maintains the district 9 in Carter County, he is immaculate about how he takes care of those roads. We are all Kentucky state highway. And whenever I try to contact somebody in Pikeville, they still want to tell me that we are on a class C road. Evidently The people that lives on the Carter County side, they must not be class C people. Well, maybe we need to be paying class C. Taxes and you know I’m getting a little sick of all this, because we gotta get our elderly people out of here when it snows. There was a  man who said, from Webbville, Kentucky, the other day, it is something else that salt works in Carter County, but it don’t work in Lawrence County. Now that’s plum. Ridiculous. I don’t know how much more I can say, but I’m a little bit fed up with Paying taxes and not getting any results. I got the phone numbers to everybody in Pikeville, and Frankfurt who is affiliated with the state highway, and they said, now who are they? I’d like to know who they are. I don’t like this program at all. But I will get back with you, and if you want to talk to me, call 606-483-3666, and I’ll talk to you  any time I can, but we don’t deserve this. Maybe we need class C taxes. I don’t like what I’m really picking up on.
If they ain’t got the capability of taking care of the state roads, not the county roads. Now let’s go back to the state roads where you can’t get to the county roads. Unless you go through this, you can’t get to the county roads unless you go through the state roads and I’m gonna leave you with this to think about.
And you have a great day at a Merry Christmas, and I will get back with you later, okay, and you have a great day, bye.
