Owingsville, Ky. — Lawrence Co. went 1-2 in the inaugural CSI Classic held recently at Bath Co. High school. The Dawgs are 5-11 on the season and will look to turn things around in the second half of the season.

In the first round on Thursday evening the Raiders avenged an earlier defeat to the short handed Bulldogs to advance to the semifinals.
The two teams were tied after one quarter and the Dawgs led 24-21 at Halftime.
In the second half the game remained close throughout as East Carter made a few more plays to get the close win.
The Bulldogs were led by Tyler Maynard with 25 points and 6 boards, Cody Maynard tallied 16 points, Chase Sartin chipped in with 9 points on 3 three pointer, Noah Fairchild 6 points and Alex Ratliff hit a three pointer for his only points. LCHS went 11-15 from the line and hit 6 three pointers.

The Dawgs put five in double figures and picked up a nice win in the consolation bracket.
The Bulldogs started on fire and scored 26 in the first quarter. Coach Travis York’s youngsters led 43-34 at the break.
In the second half it was much of the same as the Dawgs extended the lead and cruised to the much needed win.
Cody Maynard went 4-8 from the three point line finishing 19 points and 7 assists, Tyler Maynard had 16 points and 6 boards, Baden Gillispie had 16 points, Chase Sartin tallied 15 points including 3 three pointers and added 6 assists,
Noah Fairchild had a double double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Alex Ratliff chipped in with 8 points going 2-2 from three and 4 assists, Eric Webb hit a free throw for his only points and pulled down 7 rebounds. LCHS went 9-18 from the line and hit 12 three pointers.

Menifee Co. 81 Lawrence Co. 74 ( Saturday )
The Dawgs finished out the tourney losing a high scoring affair to the Wildcats out of the 16th Region.
The two teams struggled a little in the first quarter as Menifee Co. led 10-8 after one but really got going in the second with a 25 point outburst to lead 35-21 at Half.
In the third the Dawgs stormed back and outscored the Wildcats 24-16 and only trailed by 6 going to the final stanza.
In the 4th the teams would go back and fourth before Menifee Co. closed it out in the end.
Cody Maynard poured in 29 points including 6 three pointers for the Bulldogs. Tyler Maynard tallied 16 points, 9 assists and 6 boards, Alex Ratliff 11 points including 3 three pointers, Baden Gillispie 10 points with 2 three pointers.
Chase Sartin 6 points, Noah Fairchild 2 points and 7 boards.
LCHS hit 13 three pointers and went 13-17 at the line.

“… Had to play short handed for the second tournament in a row. Lucas Maynard and Derek Larimer missed all the three games and Baden Gillispie missed the first one.”
“… Yeah we only had 7 players vs East Carter. Had a small lead the whole game then missed a shot at the end to win it.”
