Langley, Ky. — Lawrence Co. ( 3-1 ) outscored Floyd Central ( 2-4 ) 24-8 in the second half and wrapped up the #2 seed in Class 3A District 8 with a 40-24 victory Friday night and clinched a first round home playoff game as well.
The Dawgs fell behind 8-0 on a Trenton Hatfield 6 yard touchdown and two point conversion with 6:05 left in the first quarter.
Lawrence Co. answered right back with a quick drive that was finished off by a 1 yard keeper by Alex Strickland and Andrew Tackett added the two point conversion to make it 8 all with 4:13 left in the first period.
Hatfield gave the Jaguars a 16-8 lead with a 3 yard touchdown plus the 2 point conversion with 5:55 left in the first half.
Douglass Hall answered with a strong 27 yard touchdown run and Dylan Ferguson tacked on the 2 point conversion run to tie it up at 16 all headed to halftime.
Floyd Central scooped up a Bulldog fumble and went 51 yards untouched and Hatfield added the 2 point conversion to make it 24-16 with 7:25 left in the third.
The Dawgs tied it at 24 all as Ferguson scored from 4 yards out and added the 2 point conversion with 5:04 left in the third.
In the fourth the Jaguars were driving to take the lead when the Dawgs made the play of game forcing a fumble at the 1 yard line and then going on a 99 yard scoring drive capped off by a Blue Fletcher 8 yard run and a Ferguson 2 point conversion to give the Bulldogs a 32-24 lead with 8:20 left in the game.
The Dawgs put the game out of reach when Douglas Hall went in from 9 yards out and Ferguson added the 2 point conversion with 5:49 left in the game.
Strickland was 3-7 passing for 83 yards, Danny Hall caught 2 passes for 65 yards and Andrew Tackett 1 for 18 yards.
Blue Fletcher was the leading rusher with 105 yards on 8 carries, Dylan Ferguson 81 yards on 15 carries, Douglass Hall 3 carries for 62 yards,
Strickland and Fletcher also picked off passes on defense.
The Dawgs will return to action next Friday night at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium against Raceland (4-3 ).
