COME ONE, COME ALL!!! To the 10th Annual Lawrence County Fair! Lawrence county fair board is proud to announce the 10th annual fair will be better than ever with a few new events as well as the oldie but good ones. We know 2020 was a rough year, so we are very thankful these supporters have found us worthy of their support.
Pre-fair Lawrence County Fair pageant, “Star light, Star bright” will take place at the Lawrence County Community Center (beside the high school) on July 24 at 6pm. Pageant details can be found at (https://www.lawrencecountyfairlouisaky.com/2021-pageant-signup).
The fair will begin on July 29th at 5:00 with opening ceremonies by Judge Executive Phil Carter. Phil Carter and the county workers have worked numerous hours constructing the new fair grounds at 545 Pinehill Rd, Louisa KY. The fair board was awarded a $43,300 grant to build a livestock facility in fall of 2019, however before erected COVID shut down the progress. County workers, fair board members, P & A engineering and community helpers completed the building in the spring of 2021. The grant covered the building, arena, and gates for the livestock.
Following the opening ceremonies, Cowboy Church will take place under the tents at 7:00 with Mike Cox preaching, Greg Caudill assisting with opening service, and singers: Living Waters and the Branham Family. In the livestock arena starting at 6:00 pm (registration at 5pm) Swine, Cattle, Sheep and Goats will be shown.
Friday, July 30, gates open at 4 pm with free inflatables for the children 14 and under. Livestock check in is from 5-6pm and 6pm the Livestock show will start for chickens and rabbits). Check out the posters and record books at the livestock exhibits. We will be continuing the Mutton Busting this year with the preliminary round at intermission of the horseshow. Registration for the Mutton Busting will be from 6:30pm at the livestock barn, criteria for the mutton busting can be found on the website (https://www.lawrencecountyfairlouisaky.com/mutton-busting). The horseshow will begin at 7pm and the horseshow bill can be found on the website at https://www.lawrencecountyfairlouisaky.com/horse-show-venue.
Saturday, July 31 is jam packed with activities if the weekdays are not good for you this day will keep you hopping! Starting the day the at 10am with Cultural Exhibits check in at the Lawrence County Extension tent, bring your best jam, cookies, eggs, etc. The car/tractor/cycle show will start at the Louisa United Methodist Church at 9am with registrations. In addition, the cornhole tournament will start at 10am by the livestock arena with $200 prize money. The livestock premium sale will be at 11 am, so come buy a pig, sheep, chicken… etc. You do not have to take the animal, you can donate it back to the kid, so support these kids that have spent time raising and preparing the animals. Lawn Tractor pull sign ups start at 11am and the pulls start at noon so come watch some great pulling! The greasy pig contest is at 11am in the livestock arena, this is always a great time by all! There will be categories for age divisions, registration is at 11:45. A new event for the 2021 Fair is the Outhouse races! The sign ups for the outhouse races are at 11-1:30. The outhouse races begin at 2pm. Come out and support your favorite team or rent an outhouse for the race with your own team. At the conclusion of the outhouse racing the fairgrounds will be cleared to set up for the Rodeo! You may pre-purchase an armband at the information booth at any time during the fair or they may be purchased at the gate. This year the fair board would like to thank ARC for their contribution in sponsoring the Kings Brothers Rodeo. We are so excited for the entertainment this year. At intermission the top 10 mutton busters will be performing as well as Sam L. Smith.
At the conclusion of the rodeo there will be a concert by Sam L. Smith to close out the 2021 10th annual Lawrence County Fair.
